About this site

This site was made for a handful of reasons.

For one I like writing, it's just an activity I enjoy even if I'm not great at it. So this gives me more opportunities to practice even when I don't necessarily have any topics in mind.

I also want to help make the world a better place. Even if my impact is small I figured making tools and resources for people who might need them would be a good idea. And I've recently started writing image descriptions for a lot of the things I share over on tumblr, so the idea came to mind for a place where you'd be able to look up more specific descriptions of well known people and things. If other people like this idea I can even get some help so we can build a larger collection of descriptions.

I don't know how actually useful this would be, but I know if I lost my sight and I wasn't familiar with certain things that other people are talking about I'd think it's cool if there was a place where I could look that information up. At the very least I hope it's something people think it's neat, even if it's not the most useful.

Lastly when I asked people on their opinions a friend of mine suggested that this could also be a good resource to learn how to write alt text and image descriptions. Many people learn well by example after all. Perhaps this could be helpful for folks who are simply trying to learn how to write better or people trying to learn English.
